PLAN OF ACTION
Guys, I can not voice how happy and proud ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) eternalwings and I are for the quick, enthusiastic and determined response we have received from you all. The inspiration and ideas have been electric, the energy positive and hopeful, the spirit filled with the unadulterated passion that only a truly excellent TV show and performance can bring.
I think, first off, it's really important to thank you all. We are the force, Ianto-fans! And by God, are we a force to be reckoned with. Together our voices will deafen, and all other destroying-the-456-related-analogies thereof. We truly have the power to do something here, as fans before us have made critical action in the past.
We are strong, we are together, and most of all, we are respectful. While RTD has essentially shat all over his own creation, he is, in the end, the creator - without him we would have never had Ianto in the first place. And while all I can hope to do is keep the bright flame of indignant, grieving anger burning strong within us all, let's try not to get ourselves arrested in his honour. And let's not blame those who don't have anything at all to do with the loss of our beloved coffee boy - James Moran, for instance. The idea is to win the staff over, to show them that Ianto has a dedicated audience, and to prove to Gareth that he was BEYOND valued and loved by so many hundreds of people. Not turn them against us, not make them angry, but communicate and share our love with them in the hopes of making a difference.
This is sci-fi, friends. Anything can happen.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Send coffee directly
Sachets, packets, crates, jars, cans, beans, granules, envelopes. Grab a handful from Starbucks or McDonalds. Order them wholesale, tip out your Mum's Nescafe canister, anything. Just get it, and send it. Make sure it's well-packaged and safe (try not to send glass!!) and not likely to explode all over a poor Royal Mail office worker and his minimum wage mitts. But send it. As a statement. Because let's face it, this is how Ianto would want it to be.
Send letters/notes/print-outs
If you don't want to send coffee directly, find pictures! Print them out, cut them up, stick 'em together, draw them, paint them, doodle them. Pictures of glorious coffee EVERYWHERE. Shove them in an envelope or stick them to a postcard and send those in, too!
If you're writing a note, make sure coffee is involved. If you click HERE you will even find a CUSTOM SAVECOFFEEBOY LETTERHEAD to make it known you're a part of the community!
Get creative with your post
Ianto would be the first to tell you that coffee isn't just about the coffee. It's about the experience! Therefore send in stirrers, cups, mugs, boxes, Starbucks cards, cup carriers, napkins - anything you can lay your hands on pertaining to coffee and can safely send, do it! Send in craft projects, knitted coffee cups, whatever - let your mind IMPLODE with the awesomeness! And if you get REALLY smart with it send us a picture - we're setting up a gallery to document our efforts!

THIS IS THE IMPORTANT BIT. For maximum effect we need to do this TOGETHER. Therefore please, please, if you can, begin your sending en masse from SATURDAY 18TH JULY. Get the bulk out then, as one, but KEEP SENDING. All through the week, as much as you can, and far beyond! This is for our baby!
And remember to maintain hope. Fan campaigns have worked before. We have seen entire seasons commissioned, and characters saved. We are the audience. We are the power. We are the voice.

A request and a campaign
Hey guys, I have a friend who wants to get in touch with BBC Wales to voice her complaint. It's possible that I've missed it in the variuos posts, but is there a direct email address she can use? Thank you very much. As well, any ideas on a T-shirt design for Comic Con? I'm willing to attempt my hand at a few, and I know I came across a comment by amyasfarsight about making shirts. Any other volunteers? Any ideas on what it should look like? I'll be setting up a cafepress store if anyone's interested in buying a few in support of the cause. ETA; The same friend ( lillyangel) has just come up with another slogan, "Our cups our empty... save the coffeeboy!" Current Mood: determined |

I just had another thought, maybe we can think up some catch phrases to send with the coffee and attach to emails and icons and stuff? Off the top of head, something like - Science Fiction - The Natural Home of the Reset Button I’ve been using it for all my journal titles, figured it speaks for itself. Science Fiction - The natural Home of the Reset Button
Hi, I’m from Australia and rather strapped for cash so cant really help with the coffee campaign (but I will be signing petitions, joining groups and writing emails). But I do have another idea which could help with exposure for The Cause. Does anyone have some small(or large) piece of fic that can be posted at fanficiton.net, to sneak in a message explaining saveiantojones.com and the coffee campaign? It’s simple really, post a drabble, explain what’s going on at the top, it cant be missed, will be reaching groups of people not involved with LJ and hopefully we gain support! I would do it myself but I have nothing on my computer, don’t have time to write something and will not be on the net all day tomorrow (its 3am where I’m at) and I figured the sooner people know the sooner they can help. Am I the only one?
I joined this community to ask all of you politely if you are out of your minds. Yes, it's sad Ianto died and if I had a word in this, I'd totally want him back, too. But it's not on us to play God in this one. RTD or whoever came up with it, had a reason to let Ianto die, okay. Bringing him back simply doesn't work. Think about it: At the end of Day Five we do a little jump in time with this 'six months later'. Six months after the events, Ianto's long underground and if there had been any signs of him being still alive, someone would have bloody noticed. It's not like he can magically come back from the grave (We're not in Supernatural here). It's not like they can jump back in time and rescue him (We're not in Doctor Who here). It's not like he'll just be back without an explanation in the next ep (We're not in South Park here.) And none will wake up and realise that they just dreamt all of it. If Ianto came back, Torchwood would lose all it's seriousness, if you get what I mean. It is sci-fi and all, but that doesn't mean it can't be realistic and logical. It does have a plot. I don't wanna piss people off with this or anything, I'm just saying. If you don't like Torchwood without Ianto, don't watch it, once it's out. But don't believe our word counts anything here. I'm asking way too many questions...
So, first of all I'd like to say that I'm quite proud to be part of this. Really. When I first heard about this idea (sending them coffeeeeeeeee) last night - That was pretty much the first time I laughed since I watched this damn fourth episode. So yeah - Thank you for that. :) Anyways, I'm sure a lot of people have asked all this before and if this is the wrong place to ask all those questions again - Dear mods, feel free to delete my entry. But - How are we gonna do this? I mean - Will there be a "Today we all send our coffee to Wales" - day? Because I've heard that some ppl already sent the one or other package. I mean, maybe it won't work, maybe we won't get Ianto back - But I want them to fucking realise what a big mistake they made. (And I fear that they REALLY have no idea what they did.) I want our protest to have impact. I want RTD to open his door and find at least one thousand packages of coffee. ;) No srsly. How will we organise this? And then - RTD will be at the Comic Con (I won't be there. :/ )... is there something planned for that event? Will ppl wear "Save the coffeeboy" - shirts? Will they carry around coffee beans and drop one every now and then? ;) Or will someone hand over a petition/letter/... to RTD? I know lots and lots of questions, but yeah... I'm still furious and 'doing something' is the only thing that helps. Being angry helps as well. ^^ |

well ... it worked for www.savedanieljackson.com. Hehe. It's a very sucky temporary site at the moment, but now it's up I can start publishing the link everywhere properly.
If anyone has any ideas for the site I'm very much open and wanting input. Seriously. Email me all you like. I want ideas for content, where to advertise it, who to contact ... all that junk, and much more.
Now there's a website we can try to get some BBC people to comment, as well as harassing GDL and RTD's agents and all sorts. It's going to be fun!
Also, I can't believe how wonderful and active you've all been on the coffee idea! Thanks! It's incredible.

I REALISE I'M BECOMING A NUISANCE, BUT ...
i spent a lovely hour on the phone with the BBC trying to get an email address that worked, and was given this ...

Now I know it's the news website, not RTD, but it got me thinking ... I'm pretty sure if enough of us emailed pictures of coffee to this address, we could get on the welsh news??
What do you think guys? Worth the effort of filling up their inbox??? I'm making a start right now ... hope someone else will join me.

MY COFFEE WENT THIS MORNING
like i said, expecting people to take time out to mail stuff on a given day might mean less people can do it. i think a steady stream of things arriving could be just as effective!i sent mine recorded delivery to make sure some poor soul at the bbc had to actually SIGN FOR IT lol. but it was a bit more expensive so most people should probably just send theirs regular post. whatever works for you guys. I know a few people who are sending sympathy card with the words SAVE IANTO JONES on the inside! how cute is that? seriously .... if we can get even a few more people to do this then we can change the world. or at least the whoverse! |

Yes, he's got one. Remember to be passionate but polite and respectful. If we want to be taken seriously we have to act respectable and professional. That includes proper language, grammar and punctuation as well as the right approach. Ask him to bring Ianto back, no negative comments about Gwen or accusatory content. Ohhai, I'm currently admin on what I believe to be the largest Ianto Jones group on Facebook that has been set up in response to S3.4, we have 502 members who have now all been linked to this site so hopefully that means more members for this community -crosses fingers- .
I will continue to pimp this site across the internets and I already have meh coffee ready for posting :P - fantastic idea btw, some people are so creative!
I'm still gutted about Ianto and the poor ending to series 3, but perhaps we can make a difference eh; there's no harm in trying. Current Mood: determined |

SENDING COFFEE TO WALES
Sorry to post twice in one day ... but for once I'm not going to sit back and be quietly unhappy about something. And here's how it starts.
As soon as the shop opens, we're buying a pack of coffee, we're wrapping it up and we're sending it to BBC WALES Broadcasting House Llantrisant Road Llandarf Cardiff CF5 2YQ UK with a short note explaining that this is a MARK OF RESPECT for Gareth David LLoyd and the fact he has made us happy for the last few years. And a HUGE PROTEST against Ianto's death. We want him back! But I can't do this alone ... so I'm going to beg. ANYBODY WHO CAN, I'm asking you to do the same. One small pack of coffee and the cost of postage ... it's very cheap and won't take up much of your time, and together we could make a hell of a statement. Even if you can't do this, if you have a fax machine, you could send a picture of a bag of coffee with a note to 029 2055 5960. If you can email them ONE or FIVE or TEN pictures of different bags of coffee, please do! You get the idea! the more parcels they receive, the harder it is to ignore. Come on torchwood fans ... Let's make BBC Wales smell like starbucks! You know Ianto would laugh! It's what he would have wanted, so let's do him proud!

I've never been a part of something like this before, but I fully support the idea. If there's some way that the producers/writers can swing this in a believable manner, I say bang on, let's try and convince them to do it! But not to be rude or rain on anyone's parade or the like, I think we'll be best off in that venture with the whole fandom. Including the people that like Gwen? I for one would love one of those petitions that doesn't bash on Gwen while at the same time asking nicely for a return of our favorite coffee boy! I like Gwen! I think a lot more people are going to be liking her as well after this season. So we're sending coffee to Wales? |
